I actually know some really great mothers.

However when I took on the role of being an amazing blogger, I didn't quite realize the commitment that was needed to tend to it. To be amazing that is ...

But Im back folks =]

Cosmetic Surgery ..

The simplest answer to why makeup is so popular is because its one of the cheapest and fastest ways a person can transform his/her self. Contrary to popular belief Makeup can actually alter a persons appearance and completely change ones facial structure. Below is one of the quickest ways a person can perform cosmetic surgery with the highlight/contour method.

                   Always remember the key to flawless makeup is flawless skin. Makeup is an art, make sure you are working on a clean canvas. I prepped my skin with "Murad Clarifying Cleanser" and followed up with the new "Palmers Cocoa butter formula skin therapy oil : Face"

 After the skin has been prepped for success, follow up with a primer (optional) and your favorite foundation. I am currently using "Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in shade Tawny". Additionally I applied some EOS lip balm to prep the lips as well.



                                                         And we begin ....

          Remember Highlighting will allow certain areas of the face to come forth while contouring will create the illusion that they are receding.

 Using a Concealer that is 1-2 shades lighter ... Highlight the areas on your face that deserve some love and attention.

Examples of Areas to Highlight : Center Forehead , Underneath the brow-bone , Under Eyes, Cupid's bow, Bridge of the nose and Chin (optional)

Using a Concealer that is 1-2 shades Darker .... Contour the Areas of your face you feel could use a little slimming.

Examples of Areas to Contour : Sides of your foredhead, Cheekbones, Sides of your nose , Jawline

 Now we BLEND !
                      Using a damp sponge or Beauty Blender will give an even and porcelain finish.

VOILA =]  .... without any extra makeup on we can see the difference it has created in the face and the dimensions it now portrays.

  

Next Step would be to set the work with some powder. 

   Examples of really good setting powders : Makeup Forever HD powder & Ben Nye Banana Powder

At this Point we can also go in with our favorite Blush & Bronzer ...  My favorites consist of Park ave Princess (Bronzer) and Splendor (Blush) both products from Tarte Cosmetics. [Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush and Bronzer]

                            I also went ahead and filled in my eyebrows for a more defined look.

"Every pro was once an amateur." Or at least that's what my teacher used to tell me ; but Im grateful. She knew how hard it was for one to have faith where all one can see standing in front is despair. However one thing is for certain .. FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS. It was her faith, along with the faith of others that has helped me believe, that i can achieve all i wish to achieve. As the great leader Ghandi once said : " A man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks he becomes." People can inspire you and make you see that you are worthy of your dreams but the truth is one must feel it from within.  You have the power to make your dreams come true and you have the right to live life according to these set dreams. Aside from all else, it is important to power through. It is easy to set your dreams, another is to follow when we dont always see what lies ahead; or have current struggles with the day to day life but the honest truth is noone is perfect.  So be kind, for we all facing different battles; and stay optimistic no matter what your passion is believe in it and believe that you are responsible for finishing your life's story. Choose the fairy tale ending.


As a young, NYC based Makeup Artist starting out can be hard the competition can be crucial but quite literally its all about foundation. Having a good solid base to work with. After all Rome wasn't built in a day. Makeup (along with this blog) is about expression. One needs to believe in their artistry just as much as all other great Makeup Artists did ; if not more. That's how the greats did it. I end this on a positive note by being as cliche as possible and simply saying believe in yourself even if no one else will :)

The Science Behind The Makeup

My (quick) synopsis on women and makeup : 

Its clear that not all women wear makeup. Some women don't know much about it or simply have not been exposed to it. Others feel perfectly comfortable walking out with their natural beauty. However for those of us that do I thought I'd break down to those who don't share the makeup culture, why women love makeup so much. 

It is actually a known fact that the brain has already released a certain amount of endorphin and dopamine the minute a woman even thinks about applying her makeup. This means that the individual has already anticipated a rush of optimism as they prepare to apply makeup. (According to brain function research by Japanese scientists; "The telegraph") The research focused on female responses but team believes men experience the same satisfaction while preparing for a haircut,shaving or putting on cologne.

As a part time Makeup Artist and full time woman i can relate. Simply the idea of getting ready excites. Changes occur in a human being and i don't just mean a woman's face. Personality alters along with confidence. Appearance definitely matters. Countless studies will show that being well groomed is a direct factor linked to success. Most people want to see someone who cares enough about themselves to maintain a positive image. But that's not all .. 

For some women its a chance to create relationships and helps them become more social. The same reasoning goes for those who think liquor is a necessity when going out. Makeup is a healthy way to get your blood pumping
